Eight Multi-format Channels from Sixteen Inputs.
Just like the design of the popular Roland V-1600HD switcher the V-800HD is a true multi-format video mixer meaning there is no need to match input sources to the output resolution. Every input has it`s own broadcast quality scaler that can individually scale, stretch, crop and zoom each source as required to fit any output resolution chosen.
The V-800HD is HDCP compatible and also features a built-in multi-viewer output that provides a convenient monitoring solution when connected to an HDMI monitor. The eight mixing channels provide connectivity to 3G/HD/SD-SDI, DVI-A/DVI-D/HDMI, RGB, component, and composite formats ? as well as an additional two channels for still images assignable via USB memory stick or frame grab. A newly developed key-compositing engine lets you adjust phase range, amount of chroma, and HSV color space parameters. Another key compositing feature includes an external keyer enabling CG titles and gradation clips, enabling impressive visual effects.
Assignable video cross-points allow reordering channel buttons which is especially useful when sudden changes in camera lines or differences in formats create blank spaces between select buttons on the bus. A dedicated composite output enables a down-converted SD signal that is always ready to use for archiving to a DVD recorder or to an encoder for streaming.
The Multi-Zoom feature can be enabled when one video input is shared internally with up to three more inputs ? essentially daisy-chaining it. The scaler for each input can zoom into any position in the video image giving the appearance that additional cameras are connected ? creating a virtual multi-camera environment. Additional effects include a down stream keyer (DSK), a composite keyer, Picture-in-Picture and multiple transitions.

Full Range of Connectivity
The V-800HD supports a large number of input formats, from analog to digital, with all the necessary connectors. The SDI connectors accommodate 3G, HD, and SD. The DVI-I connectors pull full duty for DVI-D, DVI-A and even HDMI using a simple HDMI/DVI adapter. The Mini D-Sub 15 pin type connector accommodates SD/HD component as well as computer input via RGB.
4:4:4/10-bit Internal Processing
The V-800HD uses 4:4:4/10-bit internal signal processing. This lets you achieve compositing and output with no reduction in high-detail RGB signals driven from a computer. The result is a sharp, unblurred display of video and text, even on large screens and LED displays. The V-800HD delivers high image quality for all uses, from live broadcasts to event displays.
Newly Developed Key-compositing Engine
Along with the upgraded internal signal processing, a newly developed keyer is included. Chroma Key lets you adjust phase range, amount of chroma, and other parameters based on HSV color space that is closely related to human chromatic sensation. This allows you to achieve high quality and tight chroma key compositing even when using 1080p video sources. What`s more, the V-800HD can accept an External Key. This attractively composites colorful CG titles and gradation/transparency clips, enabling you to achieve visual effects that are even more impressive.
Multiviewer Output for Source Monitoring
The multiviewer output allows you to monitor the status of all input sources plus the Program and Preview outputs. The convenient HDMI connector enables the use of a readily available and affordable monitor. Use an HDMI monitor that supports HDCP and 60p signals. SDI and composite inputs are displayed at the original source frame rate. DVI-I/HDMI and RGB/Component inputs are displayed using a reduced frame rate. Changing the channel cross-point assignments changes the order of displayed sources. Still images imported from USB memory are not displayed on the source monitor.
Built-in HDCP Mode
When playing back a Blu-ray disc that contains commercial content or digital broadcast programming, the digital output is encoded using HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), which is one means of copyright protection. This means that switchers that are not HDCP-compatible will not display or pass-through such video content, even in cases where permission for use in a live event was obtained from the copyright holder. To resolve this problem, the V-800HD features a dedicated mode that officially supports HDCP. A panel indicator lets you check the operating state when the unit is in the HDCP mode. In HDCP mode, no video signals are output from the analog or SDI connectors.The display or projector connected to a digital output must be HDCP-compatible as well.

Roland Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment and software. It was founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi in Osaka on April 18, 1972.
In 2005, Roland's headquarters relocated to Hamamatsu in Shizuoka Prefecture. It has factories in Taiwan, Japan, and the USA. As of March 31, 2010, it employed 2,699 employees.

Package: A completed and fully edited video piece.
Phase: Time relationship between signals it`s all relative.
PIP: Picture-in-picture.
Pixel: Contraction of picture element. The smallest element of data in a video image.
Plasma: Flat-panel display technology that ignites small pockets of gas to light phosphors.
Progressive Scanning: Each frame of a video image is scanned complete, from top to bottom, not interlaced. For example, 480p means that each image frame is made of 480 horizontal lines drawn vertically. Computer images are all progressively scanned. Requires more bandwidth (twice as much vertical information) and a faster horizontal scan frequency than interlaced images of the same resolution.
Projection System: Display that projects image onto a screen.
Raw Edit/Rough Cut: Video edited together without a voiceover, oncamera announcer or text so that separate narration or audio can be added.
Rear Screen Projection: A process of projection where an image is projected on the back surface of a screen placed between the audience and the projector. This allows for a very clean front-of-the-house look in your meeting room because all production equipment is in the back-of-the-house, behind the screen.
RGB: Red, Green, Blue. Can refer to an unprocessed video signal or the color points of a display device. Together these three colors make up every color seen on a display device.
RPTV: Rear-Projection Television.
Scan Lines: The lines drawn by an electron gun in a CRT system to make up the picture. Drawn horizontally, from left to right, starting at the top left and working to the bottom right.
SDTV: Standard Definition Television. Lower-resolution subset of the ATSC`s DTV system. 480i is typically accepted as an SD signal. Digital broadcasters can offer multiple sub-programs at SDTV quality, as opposed to one or two HD programs. Digital satellite and digital cable often refer to the majority of their programs as SDTV, somewhat erroneously, as neither system has anything to do with DTV, though both, technically, consist of a digital 480i signal.
Sigout: The final words of a segment used to signify the production`s conclusion.
Source: A component from which the system`s signals originate. DVD player, AM/FM tuners, and VCRs are sources: 2 Pull-down Recognition or 3:2 Inverse Telecine: Film is usually recorded at 24 frames per second. NTSC video (North America) is 30 frames (60 fields) per second. In order to get smooth motion, the film frames are broken into video fields in a 3-2-3 sequence. 3 fields for the first film frame, 2 fields for the second film frame, and so on. If a line doubler doesn`t compensate for the extra field during playback on a progressive-scan display, the image will have noticeable motion artifacts. A line doubler with 3:2 pull-down recognition or 3:2 inverse telecine can see this sequence in the signal and correct for it by making sure the last field in the first frame isn`t mixed with the first field of the second frame.
Standup: The portion of video in which the reporter directly speaks into the camera. If a standup concludes a package, it contains a sigout. If other video precedes and follows a standup, the segment is referred to as a bridge.
Uniformity: Even distribution across a given space. In video, uniformity can refer to the distribution of light (hot spotting) or color.
Unity Gain: Output that equals the input. Unity gain screen material reflects as much light as the reference material. Has an even dispersion of light.
UHD:Ultra-high-definition television (also known Ultra HD television,Ultra HD,UHDTV,UHD and Super Hi-Vision) today includes 4K UHD and 8K UHD.
User-Generated Content (UGC): Text, photos, video or audio supplied by the customers of a company.
Video Mapping: A technology to "paint" multiple video sources onto a stage or building where the image can be tightly trimmed around stage or building elements without necessarily needing multiple video projectors. Used to animate a stage set, change the entire mood of an event in real-time and provide an added wow factor.
Voice-over (VO): Verbal audio played over video.
Wall-to-Wall Coverage: A continuous broadcast report of a single story with few to no interruptions, usually reserved for particularly significant stories.
Y/C: Abbreviation for luminance/ chrominance, aka S-video signal. Color and detail signals are kept separate, thus preventing composite video artifacts. Cable uses four-pin connector. Used with S-VHS VCRs, DVD players, Hi-8, and DBS receivers.
